Guidance Announcements Middle School Introduction to EngineeringThe College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville (UTK) will host a summer enrichment program entitled "Introduction to Engineering" for rising 7th (current 6th) through 12 grade students during the summer 2012. The objective is to provide an introduction to engineering, showcase the applications of math and science, and learn what engineers do in the real world.
Each program is a one-week residential program designed for underrepresented (African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American and Women) participants that have performed at a B or higher level in both math and science. Participants will learn about careers in engineering, explore UTK campus, tour engineering labs and facilities, compete in engineering challenges, cultivate new friendships, spend a weekend living on a college campus, and gain a jump start to their academic career. Each program is designed to motivate students who have an interest in engineering. Applications can be found starting on November 15, 2011 at the UTK website http://www.engr.utk.edu/edp/pre_college.html All applications must be received by March 2, 2012.
